We have designed these bikes using our knowledge of pedal folding bikes, which we have designed & sold for a number of years. We are the sole importers of all our bikes so you buy direct from us for the best price. This is our full size 26" ElectroBike. Please see our Mk2 and Mk3 ElectroBikes for more compact sizes.
It has a very simple twist grip throttle with a push button switch that allows you to switch between either pedal power or throttle power. We recommend the use of the throttle as no power is used until this is opened. This means you can ride the flat roads and down hills as an ordinary cycle and only use power when the going gets harder on the slopes or hills. The bike is powerful enough to start from standing on throttle alone but we recommend pedalling a bit to help generate the high torque required to get moving. The range of the ElectroBike PLUS is nearly 60 miles in throttle mode rather that the 30 miles when on pedal assist. Electric bikes are a great way to get gentle exercise without ever pushing yourself too much and as you get fitter you use the throttle less and less. This model has a 250W brushless motor (the largest permitted under current EEC regulations). We have fitted front forks, double vee brakes and both now have a Lithium battery fitted with power indicator. The bike is fully weather proof and electrics are sealed, however high pressure washing isn't advised.
The bike has an aluminium frame for weight reduction and to allow for front suspension. To get a 26" wheel bike to fold to a small size the handlebars have been designed so they can be removed from the frame whilst still being connected to the bike. They can also fold to give many storage options. The battery is fitted with a key lock to prevent unauthorised removal.

The battery is Lithium 36v which has no memory. This means you do not have to discharge it fully before recharging as you do with lead acid or ni-cad batteries. Each time you return from your ride you can just top up the charge. There is an indicator on the battery so you know how much power you have left to use. Charging time from flat is approx 4 hours but after your ride normally much less than half that is required. The battery will take approx 1000 complete recharges so can last for up to 20000 miles cycling! If you are used to motor homing, caravanning or canal boating you may charge the battery through an inverter which should be 300 watts or larger. We think our replacement battery prices are also some of the best prices in the country.
Can electric bikes pull you up a hill on battery power alone ? We're afraid the answer is no. None of the road legal electric bikes will do this as the power output of the motor is strictly governed by E.E.C. regulations. Also the electrical power must legally cut out at over 15mph. If you are on pedal assist mode the power must also cut out when you stop pedaling. The bike must also have the capability to be pedal assisted which is why the electric scooters without pedals are illegal. When these regulations are met no tax, insurance, MOT or license is required. When you reach the slopes and hills the bike with the power on only requires gentle pedal assistance to climb them. All normal slopes and hills then feel like you are still riding on the flat. They will not climb Ben Nevis slopes but they will surprise you as to what they will climb.
